The story of a one legged soccer player

In the lead up to The Soccer World Cup, Powerade have come up with the wonderful story of Nico Calabria, a 19-year-old soccer player who was born with one leg.

Composed mostly of home video of his childhood, shot by his parents. It shows how he struggles, plays, and overcomes the various challenges of his youth. Trying all manner of sports he develops into a high-school soccer player with a deadly free kicks.

“It was hard sometimes, but my family always had a ‘no excuse, tough love mentality’ when it came to overcoming challenges,” he states.

In his short life, Nico has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, and will be playing in the Amputee World Cup in the fall.
